I’m headed out to look at this 2004 F-150.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
It has all the stuff I’m looking for and “low” mileage compared to most ive seen so far.
Oddly at 168,000 miles it has a hair more than my 1995.. Much more power and way less rust though.
$10,000 still feels high for 12 year old rig.
HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles

That's the worst part about new trucks being so expensive, old truck retain their value even better

That’s way too high of a price for a truck like that

Double edged sword. Especially here in Farm country. They can ask almost anything and know they'll get it.

They’re all like that here. Anything with less than 200k on the clock is going to cost.

Yeah, I’m just not a fan of this gen of F150. Couldn’t envision ever spending that much on one. Though, to its credit, it does look relatively clean.

Funny. This is around the time I started liking them again. I’m not a fan of the 97-03 trucks at all.

Yeah it does seem a little spendy but that’s just the list price. Good luck with negotiations! Buying a new car is such a rush.
Jesus, I sound like a drug addict.

Other than the lightning they are pretty terrible looking.

Buying a new anything is a rush.
I reloaded the 3 wheeler I just bought just so I can look at it in the parking lot at work on my breaks.
Engines, wheels and paint. Automotive Crack!

Yeah. They are. Like an awkward teenager. And it seems like they rusted a lot more than previous or succeeding gens. A LOT more.

Too true. I remember I had a couple good friends in high school who would do the same with their dirt scooters. Too bad you can’t put around on it at work :p
Don’t even get me started on wheels, I think I may be a budding wheel whore.

I patrol the neighborhood without too much trouble.
I want to start a wheel collection. One of each I find interesting. I can hang them in the basement like Art.

This was my phone wallpaper for a long time. If I could put together a collection like this I think my life would be complete.

That would be awesome.
Back when I lived in Chicago I used to regularily go to a tire store on the Northwest side late at night. They had a 2 story wheel display about 100' long lit up with blue neon. I wish I had a pic. It was stunning.

Sounds about like heaven. Or maybe the ultimate man cave set up. I’m also a sucker for neon lights.

Yep. They’re hideous, but fortunately they’re all rusting away, so we don’t have to see them so much anymore.

I cannot wrap my mind around how expensive used trucks are. My truck is 10 years old, with 112k miles on it, and it’s still worth fully half of what I paid for it.

Yeah, the 97-03 generation is without a doubt the worst. To be honest, I don’t really like any F150 from 97-14. The new ones are fantastic, but I just found this gen to be really badly built and an average performer. Would much rather have an equivalent GM truck.

2004 with the 5.4L v8? Isn’t that the 3v v8? I’d make sure you get a spark plug change before you sign anything. I’d also inspect the exhaust manifold.
the 2003 - 2005 ford modular engines have had issues with the plugs either cracking in half or blowing completely out and having to be heli-coiled. They also have issues with the stock exhaust manifolds warping causing an exhaust leak.
Just a heads up. The spark plug issue sounds worse than it is, but it’s a possibility and the heli-coiling can get costly. If you make sure they change the plugs before you sign, you should be good for 60-80k miles.
